Can Pastilla trial: up to 66 stabs before car crash
Can Pastilla, Mallorca: A security guard finds a girl in a crashed car and her mother dead beneath the passenger-side dashboard. On Tuesday, 6 October 2026, she tells a jury at the Provincial Court in Palma what she saw after the collision on 10 December 2024. Prosecutors say María del Rosario’s former partner stabbed her up to 66 times before the car crashed.
Witnesses describe the crashed car
The guard was walking to her car after work when she heard a loud bang. At first, she saw nobody in the wrecked vehicle. Then she spotted the girl in the back and María del Rosario beneath the dashboard.
Another witness said she saw the accused get out after the collision as though nothing had happened. A local woman also told the court she saw him leave the scene calmly.
A warning before the attack
María del Rosario’s best friend said she feared what her former partner might do after she reported him and a protection order was made. In tears, she told her friend: “Now he’s going to kill me.”
The friend also described an incident two days before the killing. Despite the protection order, María del Rosario had collected the man from the airport. The witness said he tried to cause a crash while both girls were in the car, so that all four of them would die.
Prosecutors set out their case
Prosecutors say the accused persuaded María del Rosario to go with him to collect their younger daughter. As they drove along the Camí de Can Pastilla, he pulled a knife from his clothing and stabbed her. She died minutes later.
With her body still in the car, prosecutors say, he suddenly accelerated and caused several collisions before hitting another vehicle. The girl suffered minor injuries. The man fled, but Palma Local Police arrested him shortly afterwards in a nearby park. He faces 27 years in prison.
