Mallorca murder trial: 66 stabs and no alarm
Mallorca: A man goes on trial on Friday, 2 October 2026, accused of stabbing his partner up to 66 times in a car in Can Pastilla, Mallorca, with their two-year-old daughter aboard. At the Provincial Court in Palma, the chief National Police homicide investigator explains why an electronic monitoring system raised no alarm.
Why the alarm did not sound
The man had been under an order since November 2024 barring him from contacting the woman or coming within 500 metres of her. He wore an electronic monitor linked to the Cometa system. According to prosecutors, he persuaded her through calls and messages to meet him and drive together to collect their daughter from nursery. He asked her to leave her monitoring bracelet at home.
The investigator tells the court that without her bracelet, the system did not sound an alarm. Security cameras and the man’s monitor later helped police trace the car’s journey. The footage shows it stopped for five minutes at one point.
The drive ends in a crash
After they collected the child on 10 December 2024, prosecutors say the man pulled a knife from his clothing and stabbed the woman. She died minutes later. He accelerated with her body still in the car, causing several traffic accidents before hitting another car from behind. Their daughter suffered minor injuries.
The man fled, but Palma’s Local Police arrested him shortly afterwards in a nearby park. The investigator says he was covered in blood and told officers he had killed his partner. He also describes a social-media video showing the accused with a song he considered ‘threatening and revealing’.
