Palma, Mallorca: Six new bin lorries for narrow streets

Palma, Mallorca, has six new bin lorries to handle rubbish collections in narrow streets and around tight bends. Municipal company Emaya has added the rear-loading compactor trucks to its fleet, Palma City Council said on Monday, 5 October 2026. They are also intended to help with more frequent daily collections and extra rounds.

Each lorry weighs 12 tonnes. Four run on compressed natural gas and cost more than 735,000 euros together. The two diesel lorries cost 296,000 euros. All six have updated equipment and technology, and the total bill tops one million euros.

The city says the compact lorries are better suited to hard-to-reach streets in Palma’s neighbourhoods. It expects them to make the fleet less reliant on older vehicles.
