Ciutadella on Menorca moves a step closer to a new court building costing nearly 20.9 million euros. The plan would bring the town’s judicial services, now spread across several sites, under one roof. On Tuesday, 3 November, Spain’s Council of Ministers authorised the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes to put the building work out to tender.

The new court would stand on a plot of more than 6,600 square metres in Santa Rita, provided by Ciutadella Town Council. The central government says the move aims to improve working conditions for court staff and make it easier for people to use judicial services.

The building is planned to be accessible to all, sustainable and energy-efficient. It would also have space for Ciutadella’s judicial work to grow in the future.
