Balearic Islands: 3,573 new firms, September dips
Across Mallorca and the rest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, 3,573 new companies form between January and September 2026 — but September brings a drop. A study by Cesce puts the nine-month total 4% above the same period in 2025, below the 8.3% rise across Spain.
Construction leads with 1,180 new firms. Property businesses follow with 629, then hospitality with 424 and trade with 346.
September accounts for 256 new companies, down 7.9% from 278 a year earlier. Yet more capital is going into new Balearic firms: investment reaches 192 million euros so far this year, up 156% on 2025, compared with a 14% rise across Spain. In September, investment on the islands stands at 8.6 million euros, virtually unchanged, while the national figure falls 21%.
