Mallorca nightclub punch leaves woman needing stitches

Palma, Mallorca: A punch outside a nightclub leaves a woman needing stitches in her nose after a row over a missing mobile phone. The incident happened in an industrial estate in the early hours of Saturday. The National Police have arrested a woman suspected of throwing the punch.

The injured woman had urged her brother to stay away from a young woman he had been dancing with because she thought the woman might cause him trouble, police say. Soon afterwards, he noticed his phone was missing. He and his companions looked for it and suspected the young woman had it.

When his sister asked the young woman to return the phone, an argument broke out. The woman allegedly punched her in the nose, causing heavy bleeding. Medics treated her at the scene, but she needed to go to a health centre for stitches.

Officers searched the suspect, one of her companions and her car. They found no phone. Police arrested the woman on suspicion of causing injury.
