Mallorca nursery staff plan another protest outside the Balearic Parliament in Palma at 09.30 on Tuesday. Workers at the islands’ escoletes, or nurseries, want talks on a collective agreement covering the Balearics and a review of the decree on minimum requirements.

The Xarxa 0-3 group is organising the rally with the CCOO, UGT and STEI unions. A march is planned in Maó at 11.00, followed by a protest in Eivissa at 18.00.

The organisers say employers’ associations are blocking talks on the agreement. They also accuse the Balearic Ministry of Education and Universities of holding up a forum for talks on the early-years agreement. They say a realistic review of the minimum-requirements decree is urgently needed.
