Mallorca nursery staff are set to protest outside the Balearic Parliament in Palma at 09.30 on Tuesday, 6 October. They want talks on a collective agreement for the Balearic Islands and a review of minimum standards for young children’s care.

The Xarxa 0-3 network and the CCOO, UGT and STEI unions are organising the protest. They say employers’ associations are blocking agreement talks. They also accuse the Balearic Ministry of Education and Universities of holding up a forum for talks on the childcare agreement, known as the Mesa 0-3 del Convenio Infantil. The organisers say the rules on minimum standards urgently need a “realistic” review.

Further action is planned on the other islands: a demonstration in Maó on Menorca at 11.00 and a protest in Eivissa on Ibiza at 18.00.
