Menorca nursing students see 84 staff stage care cases
On Menorca in the Balearic Islands, 84 health professionals will stage clinical care scenarios for nursing students at the university campus on Monday. Students will see how guidance used in public health centres works in practice and speak to the staff putting it into use. The Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy at the University of the Balearic Islands and the Balearic Islands Health Service are organising the Best Practice Spotlight Organizations (BPSO) fair.
The professionals come from hospitals and other care centres. They will recreate different situations at stands around the campus, giving students a chance to connect the guidance with the decisions made in care. The fair is part of assessed work in several subjects on Menorca’s nursing degree.
BPSO is an international programme promoting care based on scientific evidence. Almost all of the Balearic Islands’ public health network takes part. Ten sets of guidance are in use across the islands, covering areas including fall prevention, pain care and hand hygiene. The aim is for students to learn the tools and procedures they will encounter in health centres before they start work.
