The university has also started a marine sciences degree at its Faculty of Sciences this academic year. The course aims to train specialists to study and manage oceans, marine ecosystems and coastal ecosystems.

Beyond oceanography, the UIB ranks among the world’s top 400 universities for atmospheric sciences and the top 500 for physics and education sciences. It has returned to the education sciences list for the first time since 2022.
