Palma, Mallorca: Vox stands by island council vice-president Pedro Bestard on Monday, 2 November, despite a prosecutor’s complaint over the alleged misuse of official cars. The PP says it will wait for the court process to finish.

At a press conference in parliament, Vox spokeswoman Manuela Cañadas said Bestard, the second vice-president of the Mallorca Island Council, is entitled to the presumption of innocence. She said there might not even be a trial and accused left-wing parties of demanding resignations only when allegations involve the PP or Vox. She said she would continue to defend Bestard.

PP spokeswoman Marga Durán also urged patience. Citing council president Llorenç Galmés, she said the island government would act decisively once the courts deliver a judgment.
