Spain’s authorised olive oil mills have until 3 December to enter samples from the 2026–2027 harvest in a national prize. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announced the competition on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, in Spain’s Official State Gazette. It is seeking the country’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The Alimentos de España award has four categories. Three cover conventionally produced oil: sweet green-fruity, bitter green-fruity and ripe-fruity. The fourth is for organic oil. The oil with the highest combined score for tasting and physical and chemical assessment will also receive a special prize.

Mills must be authorised and have their registered office in Spain. Each sample must come from a uniform batch of at least 10,000 kilograms from the 2026–2027 harvest. The ministry has awarded the prize annually since 1998 to recognise quality and help bring Spanish extra virgin olive oil to wider attention.
