Palma ORA expansion: resident permit costs €24
Palma residents in streets joining the ORA parking scheme can apply for a digital permit from Wednesday, costing €24 a year. The new regulated-parking areas are expected to take effect on 1 January 2027. No windscreen sticker is needed: checks will be made automatically from the vehicle registration number.
The expansion covers streets in Foners, Pere Garau Este, Son Fortesa Sud, Els Hostalets, Son Oliva, Plaça de Toros and Camp Redó, plus some roads in Bons Aires. Not every street in those neighbourhoods is being added, and Palma City Council says people should check whether their address is included before applying.
What residents need to apply
Applications will remain open until 1 January 2027, though mobility councillor Toni Deudero said the timetable could be adjusted as the process develops. He said the extension followed requests from people living in the affected areas and is intended to make parking spaces more available for residents, businesses, errands and visits while increasing vehicle turnover.
Applicants must have a valid DNI, NIE or passport, the vehicle registration document and a valid driving licence. They must also be registered at an address in the relevant zone and up to date with municipal tax payments.
Applications can be made through mobipalma.mobi or at SMAP offices by appointment. Payment can be made by bank card or through a Palma City Council payment charge. SMAP has begun an extra recruitment drive and could add up to 20 staff if demand requires it.
Existing permit holders need take no action
Residents who already hold a permit in an existing ORA sector will not need to apply again. Their renewal will follow the usual process, although some may be assigned a different sector number after the reorganisation.
Drivers who do not live in the newly added streets will continue to use the usual ORA system there, paying through the mobiAPParc app or at parking machines.
