Palma ORA row: marks cover one side only
In Palma, Mallorca, road markings for the expanded ORA regulated parking zone have appeared only beside the odd-numbered buildings on Reyes Católicos. The neighbourhood group Flipau amb Pere Garau says the even-numbered side must be included too. It made the call to Palma City Council’s Mobility department on Tuesday, 8 September, saying the split risks confusion and unfair treatment for neighbours on either side of the street.
The group says work on the new markings has already begun, but Reyes Católicos has been marked on one side only. It points to Médico José Darder as an example: ORA covers both sides there, even though the street lies in the two neighbourhoods of Pere Garau and Son Canals.
The request follows earlier complaints by the platform about Reyes Católicos and other streets. It had also raised problems with vans taking up pavement space.
The new regulation takes effect on 1 January 2027. Residents can apply for the new virtual resident permit from 16 September by taking their documents to the SMAP offices on Sant Joan de la Salle.
