Mallorca’s island council is setting aside €500,000 for activities for people over 60 across the Spanish island: local councils can apply for grants to run workshops, cultural events and social gatherings. The Consell de Mallorca says the money will cover activities held between 1 October 2026 and 31 May 2027. Councils have until 17 November to apply through the Consell’s electronic portal.

The grants can also pay for art activities, courses and meetings between generations. Councils may use the money to hire professionals and cover transport and materials needed for the activities. Toni Fuster, the island councillor responsible for the presidency, says the aim is to help older people stay active and spend time with others in their own municipality.

The €500,000 is split by municipality size. Councils in places with fewer than 10,000 people can seek funding from a €200,000 allocation. Another €200,000 is set aside for places with 10,000 to 25,000 people, while €100,000 is allocated to those with more than 25,000.
