Palma autumn flights: passenger numbers surge 163%
Palma de Mallorca is drawing 163% more Spanish flight passengers for the September-to-November autumn period, Kiwi.com figures show. The booking platform’s data, released on 16 September 2026, place Palma fourth among Spanish destinations for passenger growth. Ibiza leads the domestic list with a 224.5% rise, followed by Lanzarote on 196.0% and Menorca on 183.8%.
The wider picture is just as sharp. Flight bookings by Spanish travellers for autumn are up 93.6%, while passenger numbers have risen 87.8% compared with autumn 2025. Kiwi.com says the usual quieter season between September and November is losing ground.
Palma airport is also sending out 107.8% more passengers than a year earlier. Only Bilbao, up 151.2%, and Asturias, up 118.7%, recorded bigger growth among the leading departure airports listed.
Fares barely move despite the rush
The average fare per passenger stands at 137.66 euros, only 1.1% above autumn 2025. The median ticket price has slipped 1.5% to 106 euros.
Short-haul flights average 98.68 euros per passenger, up 1.6%. Medium-haul fares have fallen 1.4% to 150.50 euros, but long-haul tickets have climbed 13.9% to an average of 547.95 euros.
Short breaks still set the pace
Spanish travellers are booking flights a median 55 days before departure, compared with 52 days last autumn. Their median trip length remains four days.
Daniela Chovancová, PR Manager at Kiwi.com, said price was not holding travellers back this autumn. She said people were booking a few days earlier than last year and keeping trips to around four days, meaning the rise came from more journeys rather than longer stays.
