Palma, Mallorca: the city puts forward a 670 million euro budget plan for 2027, but Vox has not pledged its support. Mayor Jaime Martínez presented the plan on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, after the city government's executive board approved it. The proposed budget is 6.9% higher than this year's and includes 95 million euros in investment.

What the money would pay for

The plan sets aside six million euros to keep renewing and improving pavements across Palma's neighbourhoods. Another 3.69 million euros would go towards replacing streetlights with LED lighting.

Housing is also on the list. The city plans to spend 4.5 million euros building 46 homes with limited rents itself, after no bidders came forward for the work. It would put 3.7 million euros towards renovating 399 homes owned by the council. The budget would also fund 50 new local police posts.

Vox has yet to commit

Last year, Martínez presented the budget alongside Vox spokesman Fulgencio Coll. This time, the party has given no explicit backing. Coll questioned its support months ago, saying the city government had not honoured an agreement made at the start of its term.

Martínez says he expects to secure enough votes to pass the budget and is open to small changes as it goes through the approval process. Whether Vox will support it remains unclear.
