5kg cannabis seized in Palma police chase

Police in Palma, Mallorca, have arrested a woman after a motorcycle chase in Son Gotleu during the early hours of 23 September. Officers recovered 5kg of cannabis from two bin bags she threw away while riding, the National Police said. She is suspected of drug trafficking.

The patrol was carrying out preventive work when officers spotted the motorcycle and signalled for the rider to stop. Instead, she rode away. During the chase, officers saw her discard two bin bags but did not lose sight of her.

They retrieved the bags and found numerous transparent packets containing marijuana buds. The seized substance weighed 5kg in total.

The chase continued until the rider entered a pedestrian street. She abandoned the motorcycle and tried to flee on foot, but officers caught and arrested her.

Udyco, the National Police unit, has taken over the follow-up investigation into the seized drugs.
