Palma car break-ins: seven cars hit, two men arrested
Palma, Mallorca: police arrest two men after seven parked cars are broken into on Sant Rafael street. In the early hours of Wednesday, a witness calls 092 to report two people forcing open several cars, Palma Local Police say. Officers arrive to find one man working on a car’s dashboard while the other appears to be keeping watch.
The men try to flee when they see the officers, but the patrol stops them. Between numbers 124 and 164, police find seven cars with the same damage: each has a broken front right triangular window.
The suspects, aged 25 and 26, have several drill bits and a pair of bent scissors. Police say the bits can be used to break glass with little noise and believe the scissors may have been used as a lever. Officers also recover stolen items that had been left behind, including a pair of boots, an LED emergency light and a vehicle cover.
Police say the 26-year-old has numerous previous entries on his record for similar damage and thefts involving forced entry. Both men are arrested on suspicion of theft involving forced entry and handed to the National Police, then to the judicial authorities.
