Palma's Christmas Lights 2023: A Festive Date to Remember
Experience the Magic of Palma's Christmas Lights 2023
As the warm embrace of autumn settles over Palma, residents and visitors alike are already casting their thoughts toward the enchanting season of Christmas. In Palma, preparations for this magical time of year are well underway, promising a delightful celebration that will fill the hearts of both young and old with joy.
Celebrations in the City Centre
On Thursday, November 23, Palma's city centre will come alive with the vibrant colours of the Christmas lights. The spectacular illumination ceremony promises an unforgettable experience, with live music and entertainment turning the streets into a dazzling wonderland. Acrobats and circus artists will take centre stage, telling the story of how the lights have the power to transform the city, making Palma a radiant beacon of holiday cheer and events.
The festivities are set to begin at 17:30, promising a fantastic evening of joy, especially for the little ones. Palma's city centre will be buzzing with excitement as families gather to witness the magic of the Christmas lights.
Responsibilities for a New Director-General
This year, the responsibility for the city's Christmas lights has been entrusted to the newly appointed director-general for music and the performing arts, Rafel Brunet. Taking charge of these illuminations is one of the many tasks brought back in-house after the previous administration had outsourced them. In light of the forthcoming event, Belén Soto, the town hall's spokesperson and councillor for infrastructure, has emphasised that the contracting process is already underway.
A Change in Tradition
In contrast to last year when the lights were switched on a week before Black Friday, this year's celebration will take place on November 23. While there is currently no information regarding similar light shows in various parts of the city, the anticipation for this festive season is building, promising the magic of Christmas will once again enchant the streets of Palma.
