Palma drug gang: six face 39 years in jail

Six people accused of running a drug gang in Palma, Mallorca, face a combined 39 years in prison at a pre-trial hearing on Thursday at 10.45am. The Second Section of the Balearic Islands Provincial Court will hear the case against the defendants, who are accused of dealing cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Prosecutors are seeking six years and six months for each person, alleging drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation.

The prosecution says the group used a ground-floor premises in Palma as both a drugs store and sales point. When National Police officers entered, the defendants allegedly tried to get rid of the substances through a sanitary fixture.

Police seized drugs valued at €96,648, according to investigators. Officers also took €13,495 in cash, 46 dollars and 81,400 Nigerian naira.
