Mallorca: police pull almost 200 grams of cocaine from a shared cistern in the La Soledad district of Palma after a drug raid on Wednesday. Spain’s National Police arrest four people — three men and a woman — after searching three drug-selling sites and a separate property. A judge orders one of the men held in custody and the three selling sites sealed.

Drains led to a shared cistern

Police say the selling sites served customers around the clock. Several entrances had armoured doors and reinforced iron bolts, while cameras showed the street on screens inside.

During the searches, two men inside separate buildings allegedly threw drugs down drains built for that purpose. The drains connected to a shared cistern fitted with a water supply to help wash substances away quickly. Officers found a similar drain at the other property, which police believe was being prepared for drug sales.

Two more arrests later that day

Officers entered the cistern and recovered the cocaine, along with about 100 grams of a substance not yet identified, cash, scales and other drug-selling equipment. They also found cocaine, hashish and cash at the selling sites.

The man and woman arrested later were not there when officers carried out the searches. Police say they had acted as lookouts on the street, warning sellers if officers approached. Investigators found and arrested them late on Wednesday afternoon. The man ordered into custody is one of those suspected of throwing drugs down a drain.
