Mallorca election: three Palma polling stations move
Mallorca’s city of Palma is moving three polling stations before the 29 November general election, while 3,924 election-day posts need filling. Palma and Eivissa city councils draw lots for polling staff on Tuesday, 3 November. Palma expects 436 polling desks across 79 polling stations.
Where Palma voters will go
The six polling desks at Sant Francesc d’Assís move to the Casal de Barri Pere Garau neighbourhood centre, bringing its total to nine. The Casal de Barri Son Ferriol replaces the CEIP Son Ferriol school and will take its 13 desks. Building work at the CEIP Felip Bauçà school sends its six desks to CEIP Tramuntana.
Voters can enter their identity card number on Palma City Council’s website to check their polling station.
Election duty and deadlines
Polling-desk duty is compulsory for those selected. Voters older than 18 and younger than 70 can be appointed. Anyone aged 65 or over can decline within seven days of being notified; the local election board will accept that automatically. Those with another documented reason have seven working days from notification to lodge an objection.
Changes in Eivissa too
In the city of Eivissa on Ibiza, the council has drawn 468 people, including substitutes, for 52 polling desks. It begins notifying them on Tuesday. Those with a justified reason they cannot serve have seven calendar days after receiving notice to object.
Four places become polling stations: the Sa Capelleta residents’ association headquarters, Sa Peixeteria, the Paco Vázquez sports hall and the Centre de Creació Jove C19. Eivissa City Council advises voters to check their polling station before 29 November.
