Palma migration protest challenges EU controls Saturday
A protest in Palma against European Union migration policy is set to begin at 12.00 on Saturday in Plaza de las Columnas. The Mallorca Anti-Racist Assembly has called the gathering to demand respect for human rights and an end to the EU’s outsourcing of migration controls.
The action will take place under the slogan: “Ceuta: rights without borders, communities without racism. Protection and dignity for everyone.” Organisers say a manifesto will be read out and Assembly participants will speak.
The group says it wants to highlight what it calls rights violations linked to migration policies. It is also calling on Spain, Morocco and the European Union to take responsibility for what it describes as the use of people as instruments, and racist and colonial violence.
