Palma, Mallorca: 42 people from social organisations and employment services visit the city’s fish market on Wednesday, 28 October, to learn how the catch is sold. Their two-hour tour starts in the auction area, where market president Pedro Mercant opens the visit with a documentary, before moving to the fishing boats at the quay.

The Maritime Museum of Mallorca organised the tour to show the city’s fishing heritage, according to the Mallorca Council. At the quay, Domingo Bonnín, president of the Balearic Federation of Fishermen’s Guilds, explains different fishing methods. The groups learn how fish auctions and sales work, discover traditional fishing terms and explore the harbour’s history. They also consider sustainable fishing.
