Palma's 60 million euro funding plan faces vote
Palma, Mallorca, could receive at least 60 million euros a year from other administrations: the Balearic Parliament debates the plan on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, and is expected to approve it. MPs will also consider a change to inheritance rules for spouses. Later, they will vote on 162 proposals from last week’s general policy debate.
More funding for Palma
The capital city law would double the minimum annual contribution from other administrations to 60 million euros. It also covers housing, social services and the local police. Vox says it will vote against the law because of amendments added during its passage. MÉS per Mallorca says it will support it, though it believes the law lacks structural measures.
MPs must also decide whether to fast-track a change to Balearic civil law that would allow spouses to pass on inheritances while alive. If they agree to that procedure, they will vote on the change the same day.
Housing plans among 162 proposals
The ordinary sitting starts at 09.00 and is expected to run until at least 14.30. A separate sitting follows without a break, with 162 proposals to be put to a vote.
The People’s Party wants to use money from the sustainable tourism tax for housing policy. The Socialists want the Balearic Islands declared an area where the housing market is under pressure, allowing councils to cap rents. MÉS per Mallorca wants to restrict home purchases by people who do not live in the Balearic Islands.
