Mallorca’s Palma Futsal pose on restored 1929 boat

Mallorca’s Illes Balears Palma Futsal bring all 14 players aboard La Balear on Wednesday, 30 September, for their official 2026–2027 team photo. Club president José Tirado, coach Antonio Vadillo and the sporting staff join them on the boat, which the Mallorca Island Council has recently restored.

Built in 1929, La Balear is a barca de bou, a traditional sailing trawler. Pedro Bestard, the council’s second vice-president, says the photo brings sport and Mallorca’s maritime heritage together. He calls the boat a symbol of the island’s recovered seafaring past.

Bestard, the council’s director of sport, Toni Prats, and Estefanía Gonzalvo, mayor of Andratx on Mallorca, welcome the team and staff aboard.
