Palma clears 26.55 tonnes of rubbish in early September

Palma, Mallorca: Clean-up crews clear 26.55 tonnes of rubbish from neighbourhoods in the first weeks of September. Palma City Council reports the figure on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. Its municipal company Emaya has 47 workers on morning and afternoon shifts for the Palma a Punt programme.

Rubbish, weeds and graffiti

Crews pick up waste left outside containers, remove graffiti and cut back weeds on public land, pavements and green spaces. They also clean bins and containers and wash streets and street furniture with pressurised water.

In the first half of September, the teams work in Son Ferriol, Coll d’en Rabassa, es Molinar, Can Pastilla and s’Arenal, among other areas. The council records more than 112,656 linear metres of weed clearance and 708,240 square metres of street washing. Workers also clean 1,681 litter bins and 1,362 waste containers.

Graffiti removal is another part of the programme. The council says crews removed 22,978 graffiti markings from street furniture, roads, buildings and façades between June 2023 and August 2026.

Where crews go next

The teams are due in Cala Major, Sant Agustí, Gènova and La Bonanova by 5 October. From 6 to 16 October, the plan takes them to areas around Estadi Balear, as well as es Rafal Vell and es Rafal Nou.

The autumn round ends in Palma’s historic centre from 11 to 18 December, including work in Jaume III, La Seu and sa Calatrava.
