Palma park knife threats: two brothers arrested

Two brothers are under arrest after allegedly threatening young men with death and trying to attack them with kitchen knives in a park in Palma, Mallorca. The confrontation happens at about 20.00 on Sunday, the National Police say. The young men are aged 18 to 20.

The brothers had arranged to meet the group to talk about relationship problems after an earlier disagreement. The conversation turned into a heated argument. Calls to the 091 emergency number reported a fight involving knives.

Officers arrived, separated those involved and saw the brothers trying to leave the park. The young men told police the brothers had displayed the knives during the row. Officers found two kitchen knives hidden in bushes, with blades measuring 21 and 18 centimetres. They arrested the brothers on suspicion of making serious threats and took them to a police station.
