Palma port assault: man arrested after alleged attack
A man has been arrested over an alleged assault at a port in Palma, Mallorca, which police say happened in late July. The National Police announced the arrest on 18 August, saying the victim had invited the suspect aboard his boat to talk.
Police said the suspect declined and told the other man to go down to the pontoon. He allegedly then struck the victim in the face without warning before further blows were delivered.
The victim was left dazed and in pain, and said he could not recall what happened immediately after the first punch. Emergency services treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital.
Doctors found multiple fractures to his nasal bones, the loss of a tooth, multiple injuries, bruising and contusions. The National Police's Homicide Group, which is leading the inquiry, detained the suspect on suspicion of causing injury.
Investigators have not established the relationship between the two men, although they believe there may have been an earlier dispute.
