In Palma, Mallorca, runners pay €10 to race through the port on Sunday 15 November: all the entry money goes to Teléfono de la Esperanza. The Balearic Islands Port Authority’s second charity run, known as Cursa Solidària, also brings free dance classes to the city on Saturday 14 November. Children’s races and a four-kilometre walk are free.

Dance on Saturday, collect race bibs

The weekend begins at Plaza de Santo Domingo de la Calzada, where sports, health and charity groups will show visitors what they do. Saturday’s programme includes free sports sessions, activities for children and classes in bachata, salsa and zumba.

Runners entered in Sunday’s races can collect their bibs and T-shirts on Saturday. They cannot collect them or enter a race on Sunday.

Sunday’s route through the port

Children’s races start at 10.00, with distances from 200 to 1,400 metres depending on age. The ten-kilometre race for runners aged 16 and over starts at 11.00. It begins and ends at the plaza, taking runners along the Ponent-Paraires quays and parts of the Paseo Marítimo.

At 12.30, a four-kilometre race and a walk of the same distance begin. The walk is for people who want to join in without competing. The €10 fees from both adult races go in full to Teléfono de la Esperanza, which is training port authority staff this year on emotional health and suicide prevention. More than 2,100 people took part in the first edition.
