Palma honours 15 public transport regulars in 2026

Fifteen people who made the most of Palma’s public transport have been honoured at Plaça d’Espanya on Monday, 21 September. Palma City Council and the Balearic Government’s Department of Housing, Territory and Mobility staged the awards during European Mobility Week. The winners used EMT Palma buses, TIB interurban buses, the metro, train and the BiciPalma bike service.

The event was the 12th held under the theme “Mobility for all people. Intergenerational mobility”. Awards went to passengers with the highest number of journeys, those combining urban and interurban networks, and BiciPalma users covering the most kilometres.

Top journeys across bus, rail and bike services

EMT Palma awarded Franklin José Araugo Alvarenga in the resident category, 15-year-old Ashley Stefani Jiménez Rojas among under-17s, Marta Flores López among students and university users, and Juan Celia Barrera among pensioners. Josefa Magaña Requena received the intermodal award for making the most combined urban and interurban trips.

The Consorci de Transports de Mallorca, which runs the Intermodal card scheme, recognised Akram Loukili Haddach in the children’s category, Toni Barceló Díaz among young people, Yahaira del Socorro Miranda Muñoz in the general category and Domitilia Alexandra Bajaña Fuentes among pensioners.

BiciPalma named Héctor Bueno for the most journeys and Roman Sheremetyev for the most trips on a mechanical bicycle. Jordi Lluis Real Company was recognised as its oldest user, while Kevin Zamora logged the most kilometres.

Tribute to bus history and local police

Salvador Candelas Andreu, a former EMT employee, received special recognition for helping preserve the history of public bus transport and Palma’s historic heritage.

Palma’s Mobility department also honoured two Local Police officers for their day-to-day work managing movement around the city.
