Mallorca: Palma shops may shut early for Friday rally
Palma, Mallorca: a trade federation urges shops to consider closing from 18.00 on Friday ahead of a rally planned for 19.30 in Plaza España. Afedeco’s advice is aimed particularly at shops in the city centre. It is not an order: each owner decides whether to close early.
Afedeco says an earlier finish would give staff and customers time to leave before the rally and help them avoid unnecessary journeys through areas that could be affected. The federation says the advice is a precaution, not a call for all shops to shut.
The federation has raised its concerns with the Spanish Government Delegation and asked for preventive policing and co-ordination between security forces, particularly near Plaza España and other shopping areas. It also urges traders to ignore unverified rumours and follow official updates. Afedeco wants a co-ordinated police response ready to prevent incidents and act quickly if needed.
