Palma pay row: union protests pending 2020 school deal

USO Baleares’ education federation will stage a protest outside the Education and Universities Ministry in Palma at 10.00 on Tuesday. It is demanding action on outstanding pay agreements for concerted schools. The gathering will be held outside the department led by councillor Antoni Vera.

The union says the administration has failed to honour agreements negotiated and ratified to restore financial entitlements dating from 2020.

What the union wants

USO wants the people entitled to the payments to be identified. It is also calling for clear calculation rules and a firm timetable for the money to be paid.

Union representatives will speak to the media during the protest. They will give an update on legal proceedings and mediation before the Tribunal of Arbitration and Mediation, known as Tamib.

Court action and new proposals

USO also plans to set out its next steps towards filing a collective dispute.

Vera is due to present the first proposals for a new education agreement for concerted schools at 12.00 on Monday. They will then go before the Round Table for Private Concerted Education.
