Palma: man on trial over alleged sex assault of girl, 14

Mallorca: A man faces trial in Palma on Friday, 30 October, accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in public toilets. The alleged attack dates back to October 2021. The Second Division of the Provincial Court is due to hear the case from 10am.

Prosecutors say the man met the girl through social media and arranged to meet her at Plaça d'Espanya in Palma. They allege that he knew she was 14 but persuaded her to go to the public toilets, where the alleged assault took place.

Prosecutors are seeking 10 years in prison and 10,000 euros in compensation. They say his depression and behavioural disorders slightly affected his ability to control his actions at the time, and have put this forward as a mitigating factor.
