Palma sex assault on sleeping woman: man avoids jail
Palma, Mallorca: A man who admits sexually assaulting a woman as she slept receives a two-year prison sentence, but can avoid jail under conditions. The assault took place on 3 September 2022, while the woman was asleep in the same home as her partner, according to his admission. The Second Section of the Provincial Court sentences him on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
He will not go to prison if he commits no further offences for five years and pays the woman €5,000 in compensation. He has already paid €1,000.
The prosecution and defence reached an agreement, and the court initially announced the sentence orally. In its decision, the court took account of the payment already made, his commitment to pay the rest, and delays that left the case at a standstill for several years.
