Palma taxi attack leaves tourist with facial fractures

Palma, Mallorca: three young men attack a tourist couple waiting for a taxi on the Paseo Marítimo early last Saturday, leaving the man with facial fractures. One of the men tries to snatch the woman’s handbag. Spanish National Police later arrest two suspects.

Staff at a nightclub on Avenida Gabriel Roca ask a police patrol for help. Officers find the couple shaken, with visible injuries to the man’s face and back. A nightclub worker tells them one attacker struck the man from behind, knocking him to the ground. Two others then hit him as he lay there, while the third pulled hard at the woman’s bag. All three fled.

Officers help the injured man, who is taken to hospital. A patrol then spots two young men outside a nearby venue whose clothes and appearance match witness descriptions. They try to flee when they see the police, but officers stop them. The worker and the couple identify both as suspected participants, and police take them into custody.
