Mallorca: Palma's €11.3m tech budget rises 28%
Palma, Mallorca, plans an €11.3 million technology and innovation budget for 2027, up 28% on the previous year. The proposals put money into protecting council systems from digital attacks and improving maps used for city planning. Councillor Miquel Busquets presented the figures to municipal groups on Friday, 6 November.
Protecting council systems
The city plans to put a €625,000 cyber security contract out to tender. It is intended to protect the council’s technical infrastructure from possible attacks and help it meet the requirements of the National Security Framework.
A further €420,000 is set aside for a shared printing and maintenance service, bringing together work used by council departments day to day.
Mapping and everyday technology
Palma plans to spend just over €102,000 on high-precision equipment for making maps. Another €18,000 is earmarked for studies to bring mapping information together, with the aim of improving city planning and the council’s database.
The budget for rented equipment and software licences rises by more than 60% to almost €620,000. Plans include updates to Adobe Creative Cloud and 100 advanced PDF licences. More than €1.7 million is also proposed for other computer supplies.
One bill is expected to fall: the electricity budget drops by 57.89%, largely because the former offices at 3 Joan Maragall street are no longer in use.
