Palma watch snatch: €70,000 timepiece recovered

In Palma, Mallorca, a man falls to the ground as an attacker tears a watch worth about €70,000 from his wrist on Friday afternoon. The attacker approaches him on d'en Morei street in the old town, accompanied by two other men. Palma Local Police later arrest a 20-year-old suspect.

A pin on the watch breaks during the struggle, before the watch is pulled free. Officers on crime-prevention and public safety duties respond to an alert and take charge of the suspect, who has been held on Miramar street. The owner gets his watch back.

Witnesses and the victim identify the 20-year-old. Officers arrest him on suspicion of attempted robbery with violence, then take him to police premises for the case paperwork. He is later handed over to the National Police.
