Palma man climbs to window, threatens to kill partner

Palma, Mallorca: a man climbs through his partner’s bedroom window and threatens to kill her when police come to her aid in the early hours of last Saturday. Officers arrest him on suspicion of unlawful entry and ill-treatment, the National Police headquarters in the Balearic Islands says.

The woman was asleep when she heard a noise at the window. She told officers she had tried to end the relationship and described her partner as extremely jealous and possessive. He later told police he had expected her not to open the door, so he climbed onto a van, scaled the building to the first floor and forced the window.

Inside the bedroom, he overturned the mattress, causing the woman to fall to the floor. He also broke his own phone and refused to leave. A neighbour reported hearing her calls for help and a man shouting. After several attempts, officers got her to open the flat door. When they knocked on the bedroom door, the man threatened to kill her if she opened it, police say.
