Esporles, Mallorca, is building a nine-metre ramp to Paseo del Rei: work has begun at the corner of Jaume I Street and Joan Riutort Street. Esporles Town Council said on Wednesday 28 October that the aim is to make it easier for people to get around the public space.

The ramp will be two metres wide, with an eight per cent slope. Workers will remove the existing paving, lay a new surface and install stainless steel guardrails. The project also covers nearby stone paving, the road and signs affected by the new layout.

The work will cost almost €29,000 and is expected to take a month and a half. The council warns that people living nearby and those using Paseo del Rei may face temporary disruption, and asks for patience while the work continues.
