Mallorca patients take the floor at Son Llàtzer hospital
On Mallorca, patients take the floor at Son Llàtzer University Hospital in Palma on Wednesday, 30 September: their experiences will help staff examine how they deliver care. The event marks the hospital’s 25th anniversary and asks how listening to patients could improve treatment and the way the hospital works.
The Balearic Health Department says patients, hospital staff and other specialists will attend.
Real cases, told by patients
Patients and staff will begin by sharing experiences from the hospital. Their real cases will be used to show how patients’ views can reveal needs and prompt a fresh look at the care they receive.
Intensive care doctor Gabriel Heras will then discuss how to include patients’ voices in demanding care settings. Son Llàtzer will also present parts of its work, including care for breech births, palliative care and cardiac rehabilitation.
The hospital’s wider role
The second part turns to hospitals’ responsibilities beyond individual treatment. After a talk on management and social responsibility, speakers from other hospitals and patient groups will join a discussion. An ethics conversation will follow with members of the hospital’s ethics committee and a nursing researcher.
This is the third event in Son Llàtzer’s anniversary programme. During 2026, the hospital is also looking back at its research, management and relationship with patients. The day will end with an official closing.
