Palma pay protest: contract-school staff demand action
Unresolved 2020 pay agreements bring USO Baleares to the headquarters of the Balearic Islands’ Education and Universities Ministry in Palma, Mallorca, at 10.00 on Tuesday, 15 September. The union is demanding that the department led by Antoni Vera honours the outstanding salary deals for contract schools.
USO says the administration has failed to carry out agreements negotiated and ratified to restore economic rights from 2020. It wants a clear list of those entitled to payment, the calculation rules and a firm payment timetable.
Union representatives will also set out the state of court action and mediation before the Tribunal de Arbitraje y Mediación, known as Tamib. They will explain the next steps towards a collective labour dispute.
On Monday, Vera proposed reducing teaching hours for contract-school teachers, updating the supplement paid after six years of service and adding one working hour for tutors under a new education agreement.
