In Palma, Mallorca, new posters at Pere Garau market put traders’ hands centre stage: the market is turning attention from what is on the stalls to the people who prepare and sell it. Trade association Pimeco announced the campaign on Tuesday, 20 October.

Called “Con las mejores manos”, the campaign uses photographs, video and digital posts alongside the posters. It shows the work behind the counters at butchers, fishmongers, fruit shops and delicatessens. At its launch, Pilar Amate of the Mallorca Island Council said municipal markets needed greater visibility and appeal. Island director Álvaro Antonio Roca also attended.

Children from Son Canals school took part in another campaign activity. They met people working at Pere Garau and learned about their trades, then pressed their paint-covered hands onto old market banners so the material could be used again. Esment helped with the activity.
