Eroski's Balearic petrol stations to join Petroprix

Some of Eroski’s 40 petrol stations in Spain are in the Balearic Islands: they are set to join budget chain Petroprix after the sale cleared its first competition review. Records seen by Europa Press on 6 October show that Spain’s National Commission on Markets and Competition approved the purchase through a fast-track review without conditions. Eroski agreed to sell the stations in late June, and the deal was notified to the regulator on 1 October.

The stations will expand Petroprix’s network in areas where Eroski already operates, including the Balearic Islands. The available information does not specify how many of the 40 stations are on the islands.

Eroski says it is selling amid changes in the energy and transport sectors, including shifting consumer habits and more specialised operators. It says Petroprix has the experience to develop the petrol station business and make affordable energy available to more drivers.
