Playa de Palma beach thefts: minor arrested after five

Six mobile phones worth more than 3,000 euros, documents and other valuables were allegedly stolen from tourists in five thefts in Playa de Palma, Mallorca, at the start of September. Spanish National Police have arrested a minor in Palma over the cases. Police say he targeted people who went into the sea and left their belongings on the sand, as well as tourists who were not watching their possessions.

In the final reported theft, a tourist couple were sunbathing when a young person allegedly took their belongings. They spotted what had happened, recovered their possessions and held the minor until National Police officers arrived.

Officers linked that incident to other reports and say the minor is suspected of carrying out all five thefts.
