Playa de Palma fire traps residents in Trasimé Street building

A fire in a residential building in Playa de Palma, Palma, trapped several residents on Saturday afternoon, 22 August. Five people were evacuated from the multi-storey property in Trasimé Street, while a middle-aged woman received treatment for mild smoke inhalation.

The blaze began in an inner courtyard on the ground floor and spread through the building. Several residents moved to the roof terrace to escape the flames and smoke; they were initially considered to be out of danger and were expected to leave on foot once Palma Fire Brigade had put out the fire.

Palma Local Police, the National Police, Palma Fire Brigade and the SAMU 061 emergency medical service attended the incident.
