On Mallorca, Podemos is joining Ara Més-Front Ampli for Spain’s 29 November general election: its Balearic coordinator, Lucía Muñoz, takes third place on the list as an independent. Carme Gomila heads the alliance’s list for the Congress of Deputies. The deal was signed on Sunday night.

In Palma on 26 October, MÉS per Mallorca coordinator Lluís Apesteguia welcomed the agreement. He said the quiet, trusting talks stood apart from negotiations elsewhere in Spain. He is confident the alliance can win a seat and have a say in national politics.

Asked about calls to vote tactically for the PSIB, Apesteguia said such shifts had not been widespread in the Balearic Islands. Instead of asking people to vote out of fear or resignation, he said, the alliance would offer proposals to tackle their everyday problems.
