Palma, Mallorca: a court reopens a case over a Podemos poster showing religious figures in sexualised scenes. The Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers announced the decision on 15 October 2026, saying the Balearic Islands Provincial Court had overturned an earlier decision to close the case. The court ordered a complaint against Balearic Podemos leader Lucía Muñoz and illustrator Lluïsa Febrer to be admitted for examination, the foundation said.

The complaint, filed in January 2025, concerns a poster for an LGBTI party during the Revetla de Sant Sebastià. It shows Palma’s patron saint with a sobrasada at his genitals and a demon touching a female saint’s intimate parts. According to the foundation, the court considered that the poster could amount to criminal mockery. It has not decided whether either woman committed an offence.

The foundation’s president, Polonia Castellanos, called the ruling an important victory. She said the complaint should not have been closed without an investigation and accused Podemos of using religious images for offensive sexual depictions.
