Mallorca’s Playa de Palma gets more police and cleaning
Mallorca’s Playa de Palma has had more police and more frequent cleaning this tourist season: local businesses welcome both changes. In a statement on 1 October, business group Palma Beach praises the summer security operation under a plan announced by Palma City Council. It says the extra police presence has helped people who work in the area, residents and visitors feel safer.
The group also praises cleaning service Emaya for adding resources and cleaning more often, particularly along the seafront and in areas with many visitors.
Palma Beach points to the total solar eclipse on 12 August as an example of services working together. The arrangements included temporary traffic restrictions, extra emergency services and more public transport.
The group now wants authorities to keep renewing Playa de Palma’s infrastructure and public spaces. Its chief executive, Mika Ferrer, says the work on safety, cleaning and organisation should continue in future tourist seasons.
